The client wanted to take advantage of the Vancouver rules allowing for the development right to build a laneway house for rental income or family use. In this case, the client wanted to build a home as a rental property over the existing concrete garage. The one-story studio home was designed to maximize the buildable area on this typical city lot. The design takes advantage of using an existing building and has a generous deck facing the beautiful views of the north shore mountains and downtown. It is our knowledge of the laneway house rules and ability to work with the City of Vancouver officials that allows us to develop unique ideas for our clients.
