The client wanted to take advantage of the Vancouver rules allowing for the development right to build a laneway house for rental income or family use. In this case, the client wanted to build a home as a rental property. The two-story home was designed to maximize the buildable area on this typical city lot. The design takes advantage of the roof to place both the storage and the laundry into usable space that does not impact the allowable floor area for the home. It is our knowledge of the laneway house rules that allows us to maximize areas for our clients.
