The client for this home wanted a truly traditional craftsman home for their extended family. We maximized the footprint and area on a slightly smaller than average city property and took advantage of the zoning regulations to provide a home at the maximum allowable area of 70% of the total site area. The client cherished their privacy and to allow for this we design rooms on the public, street side of the home, while providing a more open space between the kitchen and dinging area in the back of the house. This way we can strike a good balance between openness and privacy.
